The sun was just setting as they arrived at the venue.
They were met by a man who explained that he was the organiser of the
evening's entertainments. He said that as Aimee was a newcomer to the
circuit she would be the first fight of the evening. Then he looked at Aimee and said “You seem rather hot and sweaty, let’s go straight to the locker room so you can have a shower”. They entered the building through a small rear door. Inside, the air was deliciously cool. The man led them to a small shower cum changing room. Inside the room he opened a locker and pulled out a glistening white ankle length gown which she handed to Sarah. Then she said "After your shower then put on this gown. I’ll come and collect you for the fight – probably in about 30 minutes." Aimee tried to ask him about her opponent, but it soon became apparent that he wasn't going to tell her anything about actual fight or her rival. Aimee stepped into the shower and the powerful jets of cool water felt incredibly refreshing after the heat in the car. |
