After what seemed an age, the door open and the man
entered again and asked Aimee and Sarah to follow him. He led them down
a corridor at the end of which Aimee could see a brightly illuminated
aperture. At the doorway the man motioned Aimee to wait. Sarah wished
Aimee "Good Luck", then slipped away through doorway, presumably to take
her place at the ring side. Aimee felt suddenly lonely and very nervous. The man spoke into an intercom on the wall saying that they were ready. Then he turned to Aimee and told her that when he gave the sign she was to walk into the arena and stand on the red corner of the mat. She was to keep her gown on until she was told to take it off. Aimee's mouth suddenly went very dry. Then the intercom croaked into life saying "Send her in!" The man patted her gently on the shoulder saying "Ok, off you go. Good Luck!" |
