It is over 6 years since the Spanish fighter Sancha was
put out of the preliminary rounds of the Majorca Tournament by the
heavyweight Algerian fighter Leeha. Since that time
Sancha has
continued to fight, but mainly against opponents with little skill or
training so she has usually won easily. Leeha was beaten and
injured in the final of the Majorca Tournament and it
was reported that following this she retired from fighting and moved to the
south of France to live with her children and grandchildren. Two months ago, out of the blue, a Japanese TV martial arts station contacted Sancha offering her a rematch against Leeha in Japan and for a fabulous sum of money! Sancha couldn't believe her luck! She and her brother had serious debt problems and this appeared like a gift from the gods! She had heard that Leeha had been retired for many years, so it seemed to Sancha that this would be a fight that she could win easily and claim both the fee and the prize money. So 5 days before the fight was to take place Sancha and her brother Marco caught a plane to Tokyo - 1st class seats provided by the TV station - and checked in to a luxurious city centre hotel. The night of the fight soon arrived and Sancha and Marco were taken to the TV station where the fight was to be held..... |
