After the Captain and his daughter have departed Sir
Richard considers who should be offered the fight. Ten gold ducats
is enough money to buy a small plantation, so he is sure that a lot of tenant
farmers and oversees will be interesting in taking up the offer.
But whoever takes it up will have to have a woman who fight! Eventually he decides to go see Jake and Daisy Palmer who rent a nearby farm, they are a pleasant hard working couple who he feels could do with being given a break. He has heard rumours that Daisy Palmer has fought and won private fights against her own slave women, but he's not sure if they are true. He meets the Palmers out in the fields and describes the Captain's proposition to them. They are both enthusiastic at the idea of winning a 10 gold ducats, although naturally Daisy is slightly nervous at the prospect of fighting a Privateer's daughter. After much discussion Daisy makes her decision "OK I will fight her, but I won't do it nude. I must cover my privates, if only with a pair of pants!" "Excellent! I will fix it for you to meet the Captain to seal the deal!" says Sir Richard to Jake. |
