While Blossom took Mrs Twankey into the saloon the sailor's companions moved round the crowd charging people to watch the fight and taking bets on its outcome.  Many folks commented on how fit and muscular the widow looked, so many of them placed bets on her to win.
But Maggie was of a different opinion.
"I'm betting sixpence on the black girl winning!  The widow may be bigger and look more muscular, but I know for a fact that she couldn't fight her way out of a paper bag!" said Maggie dismissively as she went off to place her bet.
A few minutes later the widow and Blossom return both now wearing wraps around the hips.
