Meanwhile on the island to which the privateer is
heading, the "Duchess" Lady Lydia and her husband, Lord Northwood, are
meeting a local plantation manger to discuss the possibility of Lady
Lydia fighting one of his girls.  Lord Northwood has explained that
they have fallen on bad times and that they are being forced to use
every means at their disposal to pay off their debts.  Despite his
great misgivings Lord Northwood has agreed to allow his dearest and
gentlest wife to help him raise funds by fighting for them. The plantation manager looks at Lady Lydia in amazement, surely this soft looking gentlewoman could not fight her way out of a paper bag, leave alone take on one of his worker girls! He's brought along one of best girls named Macy who he had thought of putting up for the fight, but now he has seen Lady Lydia he thinks Macy would surely kill her! |
