The day of the fight arrives and the Captain and Tanya arrive at first light at Sir Hector's plantation.  Leaving Tanya in a room to prepare herself, the Captain goes in search of Sir Hector and finds him inspecting the arrangements he has made for the fight.  He has had a padded corral constructed in the middle of an quadrangle of farm buildings with a thick Persian carpet laid over the ground so that the women will not be get dirty or injured by the sharp stony earth.
